hmmmm

To the person who erected this sign in front of our garage whilst we were away for the weekend....and we do know who you are....there will be payback [insert maniacal laugh here]:

Thankyou for your concern over where Bill parks his ute and it's subsequent safety. He now understands the error of his ways in parking somewhere that I might want to go, and no longer parks in this position. The XR is at the doctors recieving some botox injections and other cosmetic surgery. No one need know.......

Happy Birthday

Hmm..... 37 birthdays ago my wonderful husband entered the world. One could argue that things have never been the same since. 11 of his birthdays ago, his firstborn daughter entered in much the same fashion. I still have vivid memories of standing in a motorcycle shop as he procrastinated at length over which helmet he would like for his birthday. As my knuckles turned white and fingernails embedded in the counter, I remarked through clenched teeth that I was really past the point of caring. Tara entered the world not long after that. Happy birthday to both my special people.
(yep, his present was yet another motorcycle accessory.....you just cant go wrong there really...something special in the jeans is supposed to prevent one's skin from detaching from your body as you slide at speed along tar. Hopefully he does not test this again)

A Phabulous weekend!

Last weekend was the yearly scrap camp that SWS run. I must say that it is a bit exhausting running around after that many die-hard scrappers - but they are loads of fun!

The wonderfully gifted Lusi Austin ran some freestyling classes for us, liberating women and allowing them to throw paint daubers, staples or anything else you can find in your garage on your page. Thanks Lus - you did an awesome job.

(she too is loads of fun!)

The scrap of faith girls were great company as always. Funny how some of your best
friends can be people that you hang out on forums with and don't often get to see IRL.

The theme for this year's camp was "love is" - so of course we had a romantic dinner (for 70 ladies) on the Saturday night

followed by a talk from Red Fulton titled 'love actually'.
I have to say that Red's talk was one of the best I have ever heard explaining God's love for us. His love is possibly not what you were expecting (and certainly not those loveydovey chain emails that go around with kittens and puppies in them!).
It is far more uncomfortable and confronting than that - almost making you want to turn away. There are lots of descriptions of how God loves you in the bible......like a lover....like a husband taking back a wayward wife....like a father taking back a son that has turned his back on him.....like a shepherd searching for one sheep that is lost. Ultimately sending his perfect Son to die an excruciating death as the penalty for your sin - the only way that justice would not be compromised and you can be seen as right in his eyes. Not a kitten or puppy to be seen.
There has to be some sort of response on our part to that sort of love - and the story that Red re-tells of her then boyfriend (now hubby) is a great illustration. He puts himself right out on a limb and for the very first time says to her...."I LOVE you....."
Her response?.....a hesitant "thanks". Soooo not what he wanted to hear in response! Was she ready to entrust this man with her heart that could be so easily broken and disappointed?? Was she ready to say "I love you with all my being....I'll do anything for you". Fortunately the story ends up OK & they are happily married with 3 kids :)
The point was well made though....after all that God has done for us, "thanks" is not a good enough response. God wants us to accept his free gift of salvation and give ALL of ourselves to him. So many of us say "thanks" and then miss out on that awesome relationship. And ultimately "thanks" will not cut it in the bigger picture.
Phabulous weekend ;)
